Our Club is committed to provide the tools, opportunities and stimuli for its members to develop their leadership skills
Commited to the above, our Club arranged for our member Mohamed A. Fahmy to attend the district 2470 RYLA held in Rhodes, Greece between 28th-30th October 2011.

Other than the development of the leadership and personal skills of the member, this helped in extending of the Club's International Network and creation of Rotaract frienships.

The Organisers sent to us and the sponsoring Rotary club very positive comments about Mohamed's participation in the programme.

What is RYLA

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs across the globe. Young people (usually Rotaractors) are sponsored by Rotary Clubs to attend such events, in line with the Rotary goal of investing in New Generation and the Rotaract goal of deveoping professional and leadership skills.

Participants are chosen for their leadership potential. The format of the various RYLA events vary, but commonly take the form of a seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. Rotary clubs and districts select participants and facilitate the event's curriculum.
RYLA aims to:

• Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth;
• Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders;
• Encourage leadership of youth by youth;
• Recognise publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities.

RYLA programs usually cover the following core topics:

• Fundamentals of leadership
• Ethics of positive leadership
• Importance of communication skills in effective leadership
• Problem-solving and conflict management
• Rotary's purpose and service to the community
• Building self confidence and self-esteem
• Elements of community and global citizenship

Rotaract supports the Arts

During the first week of October (1-7th), Limassol hosted the Open House Festival.

The Festival featured a number of performances by world renouned artists.

Recognising the importance of our city hosting such international events but also emphasising the importance of artistic refinement, our Club supported this event assisted in the event's promotion.

Team Building Fun

The club had a fun and full of action day at Santa Marina Retreat on Sunday 2nd October 2011.

The members tried their skill at Archery, Wall Climbing and Sky Trailing!

This teambuilding event was aimed at building trust and bolsterering friendships between members and the integration of new members into the Rotaract spirit

DRR Cyprus Visit

The 2011-2012 District Rotaract Representative Belal Al Ayoubi had a quick visit to Cyprus.

Limassol Amathusia hosted Belal at an extraordinary meeting held on the 18th September 2011

Scholarship Award to Leading Students

A new Scholar

September is internationally named as the Rotary Youth Month.

On the 15th September 2011, keeping the tradition of previous years, the Club's sponsor Rotary club, in a joint meeting with our Rotaract Club presented the City's top scoring students with a scholariship for their University studies.

The event was attended by previous and current scholars of Limassol Amathusia Rotary Club, and had as guest speaker a Lectureρ of the Cyprus Technological University (ΤΕΠΑΚ).

Profession Presentations

Since the the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying of each person's occupation as an opportunity to serve society is a key objective for Rotary and Rotaract, our club established the Profesion  Presentations


During each meeting, a different member each time gives a short (5-10mins) presentation on their profession, its challenges, the opportunities offered as well as the anticipated career path.



Members have the opportunity to ask questions and obtain a deeper understanding in relation to the specific profession and the related industries. This also helps members bond and appreciate the daily stuggles of their fellow members

Summer Beach Party!

This is how Limassol parties!

The summer beach party is now an established tradition in the Cypriot Rotaract scene!

Limassol Amathusia Rotaract Club with the assistance of the Nicosia Lefkothea Rotatact Club and Famagusta Rotaract Club, jointly organised on the 5th August 2011 a crazy beach party at the Amathunta beach.

The event was a huge success with around 100 attendees from all over Cyprus! Plenty of alcohol, snacks and DJ music kept the fun alive till the small hours!

The net money raised, were split between the Clubs and aggregated.

Mentoring Scheme

In line with the Rotatact aim to recognise, practice, and promote ethical standards, leadership qualities and vocational responsibilities, and given that Rotary International expressed with renewed vigour that emphasis should be placed to the development of the New Generation, the Mentoring Scheme was put in place.

The scheme has as aim the professional and personal development of Rotaractors through the mentoring of Rotarians.

Each Rotatactor is paired with a Rotarian (on the basis of common profession/educational background and/or similar interests) and one-on-one meetings take place.

The successful attendance of a number of professional development seminars/presentations prior to the pairing is a prerequisite for participating Rotaractors.

Elena is an official member of our Club since the 20th July 2011

Elena was born on the 9th September 1988

She studied Law at the Universtity of Sheffield and continued her postgraduate studies at the University of Bristol. She practives Law but is also manages a Fashion Boutique.

She works for a large multinational corporation in the Taxation Services field

Her Hobbies, Interests & Passions include Music (she plays the guitar and the piano), gym and swimming, and of course fashion!

She studied: Economics at the University of Cyprus and she is a Chartered Accountant

She works for a large multinational corporation in the Taxation Services field

Her Hobbies, Interests & Passions inculed Scuba Diving, Sailing, Poetry and Chocolate

Handover Ceremony and Club's 25th Birthday

The official Handover Ceremony of the Club took place on the 17th July 2011.

The event had a Summery theme and it was styled as a pool party.

The members cooked their own barbeque and cakes.

During the ceremony, the new Committee and the club's Directors were pinned.

The Club traditionally celebrates its birthday during the handover ceremony. The celebrations continued well after dark!

First Outing of Year

Our first outing for the new Rotarian Year took place on the 22nd of June 2011 at Istorikon Tavern in Limassol

About the President

After deliberation with all the club members and in the absence of other candidates, the Club's leadership appointed Michael Constantinides to be the Club's President for the Rotarian Year 2011-2012.

Michael has been with with the Club for three years and has served as the Club's Secretary for the previous year (2010-2011). His exposure with Rotary goes way back, both his parents being Rotarians.

Michael studied Law (LL.B.) at the University of Bristol where he also continued his postgraduate Studies in Commercial Law (LL.M).

Michael is a Barrister-at-Law (England and Wales) and also a member of the Cyprus Bar.

After his legal training, Michael chose to diversify his expertise by training to become a Chartered Accounant (ACA). Having finished his training and being a full member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ΣΕΛΚ), he is now both a Lawyer and a Tax Adviser. He holds a managerial position in a leading International accountancy and consultancy firm.

Michael's hobbies, interests and passions include: Swimming, Cycling, Skiing and Waterskiing, DIY, Gardening and Traveling!

Michael speaks Greek, English, Italian and a bit of French.

Some info about Rotary

Since Rotaract is a Rotary project, and operates within the ambit of Rotary International, we thought we give some basic info about Rotary.


Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto
"Service Above Self", Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

The Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

2. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

About Rotaract and its causes

Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth programme in 1968 and has now grown into a major Rotary-sponsored organisation of over 8,700 clubs spread around the world and 200,000 + members. It is a service, leadership and community service organisation for young professionals. Rotaract focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Clubs around the world also take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world.

The goals of Rotaract are:

1. To develop professional and leadership skills;

2. To emphasize respect for the rights of others, based on recognition of the worth of each individual;
